Esperanza Zamot Walters

Esperanza Zamot Walters, age 80, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born and raised in Houston, Esperanza lived a life full of faith, love, and devotion to those around her.

She worked hard throughout her life, spending 44 years at Baker Hughes, from 1971 until her retirement in 2015. Esperanza also found joy in the simple but meaningful things—fashion, cooking, and loving her family. She could often be found tending to her beloved plants, watching her favorite novelas or learning something new from the cooking channel.

Esperanza’s infectious smile and laughter could light up any room. She had a deep and personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and her faith guided her through every stage of life.

She is survived by her four children, Robert Zamot Gonzales, Belinda Gonzales Escareno, Amalia Yanas and James Zamot Walters - along with 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her love, wisdom, and spirit in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her mother Maria Jaquez, father Gregorio Zamot, grandmother Juana Jaquez and grandfather Manuel Jaquez.

Esperanza will be remembered as a devoted mother, a woman of strength and grace, and someone who found beauty and joy in each day. She will also be remembered for her famous menudo, a dish that was guaranteed to bring her loved ones together. Her legacy of love will forever live on in her family and all who were blessed to know her.

A visitation for Esperanza will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 4136 BROADWAY ST, HOUSTON, TX 77087. A funeral service will occur Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 7539 Avenue K, Houston, TX 77012. A committal service will occur Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
