Estelle M. Giovanetti, 94, of Houston, TX, formerly of Enfield, CT, passed to eternal life on June 1, 2023, at Copperfield Healthcare and Rehabilitation while recovering from a stroke three weeks prior. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 66 years, Anthony (Tony). Estelle was born in Bessemer, PA and was the daughter of the late Rose Tamburro Stavola. However, her family soon moved to Windsor, CT to find work during the Great Depression, where she spent most of her young life. Estelle attended John Fitch High School in Windsor, CT, and she earned the honor to be a representative for the Daughters of the American Revolution. Always an excellent student and liked by all her teachers, she graduated high school as valedictorian in 1947. Also, during her high school years, Estelle volunteered and worked as a nurse assistant at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. After high school, Estelle worked briefly as a secretary for the Hartford Fire Department and then for seven years as an office administrator for both Katz and Kanter Insurance companies, also in Hartford. After her marriage in 1955, she moved with her husband Tony to Enfield, CT, where they built their home and began their family.
Estelle was a devoted mother who spent her time taking care of the family and assisting her husband with all the various home projects. Estelle believed in home-cooked meals and family dinners and would often say “you are what you eat.” She enjoyed working in the yard and would spend hours in her gardens. Estelle was an accomplished seamstress making most of her clothes during and after high school and throughout her married life. As a wife and mother, she made special outfits for her children as well as drapes and curtains for the many windows of their New England Cape Cod-style home. Estelle also loved to knit, creating many different items for her family. In her later years, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and old movies, especially movies starring the famous actress Bette Davis.
Estelle is survived by three children, Anthony J. Giovanetti of Seymour, CT., Rosanne Cook and her husband Michael of Houston, TX, and Matteo Giovanetti of Pompano Beach, FL; two grandsons, Michael (Mallory) and Gregory (Madeline) Cook, and her great granddaughter, Amelia, all of Houston, TX.
