

Eugene Valero went to his heavenly home on November 24, 2021 in Houston, Texas. Always courageous, he dealt with his health issues with a smile in his latter years. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Eugene was born on Nov 25, 1928 in Matanzas, Cuba to Rafael Valero and Teresa Mesa. One of twelve siblings, his modest beginnings drove his desire to succeed in life. A member of The International Order of Oddfellows and a previous Vice President of the Cuban Association of Houston, he started his own business and was married to Migdalia Herrera for 45 years until her passing. Eugene escaped communist Cuba in 1961 to come to America, and later that year brought his family over to join him. Throughout the years, he was a successful businessman and real estate investor and was forever grateful to be an American. He was a man of faith and loved his church. He had a passion for music, always lighting up the room with his guitar and songs. After being a widower for several years, Eugene married Rosario Rodríguez in 2010 and they enjoyed traveling to different parts of the world. But most of all, Eugene loved being home surrounded by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rafael Valero and Teresa Mesa; his brothers, Vicente Valero, Esteban Valero, Julio Valero, Jose Valero, Jerónimo Valero; his sisters, Carmen Valero De los Santos, Maria Antonia Valero Oliver, Marcelina Valero Reyes, Caridad Valero Egnor, his wife, Migdalia Valero.
He is survived by his wife, Rosario Valero; his daughter, Mary Rey, her husband Thomas Rey, his grandchildren, Alexander Rey, Christina Rey, his great grandson, Henry Hough; his son Mark Valero and his wife, Jennifer Valero, his grandsons, Sebastian Valero, Nicholas Valero and his granddaughter, Olivia Valero; his stepson, Tomas Gualberto Rodriguez, his wife Janet Rodríguez and his stepdaughter Ana Patricia Gonzalez.
Serving as Pallbearers is his son, Mark Valero, his grandsons, Alexander Rey, Sebastian Valero, Nicholas Valero, his son-in-law, Thomas Rey, and his stepson, Tomas Rodriguez. The family wishes to extend their appreciation and gratitude to his caregivers, Luz Ruiz, Cristina Lopez and Maria Villatoro for their loving care.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on December 1, 2021. Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm, followed by a 2:00 pm service. Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077.
