Eva Lou (Allen) Ray, 78, of Jersey Village, Texas, passed away on April 22, 2022. She was born in Kemp (Peeltown), Texas on July 28, 1943 to parents Evaline Brewer Allen and George William Allen. Eva was preceded in death by her parents and brother (W.L.) William Lone Allen. She is survived by her husband Richard Ray and her two daughters, Tammy Barringer and husband Kirk, Jennifer Bull and husband Rick; six grandchildren, Kyle Barringer, Melissa Barringer, Rachel Barringer, Kaylee Bull, Lauren Bull, and Grace Bull; two sisters Georgia Allen Hill and Elizabeth Allen Calcote.
Eva graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1961 and then attended Mary Hardin-Baylor. She worked for Oshman’s Sporting Goods, Humble Oil, and Gulf Oil during her early years; however, her career was that of a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved God and loved to serve Him with her ability to praise Him with her gift of singing.
Eva first met her love of her life at school while still in the third grade and then attended the same schools through graduation of high school. In 1963, Eva and Richard had their first date, they were engaged on Valentines 1964, and married on March 21, 1964. Together, they shared 58 years and 34 days of faithful marriage with God’s grace and help along the way.
Recent years have been difficult on her body, taken away her ability to sing, and restricted her other activities, but her love for her family remained as strong as ever. While her body was diminished, her mind and memory of her loved ones never faded. The family wishes to thank those that helped with the care of Eva during the past year when she needed the most help.
The family will receive friends for visitation Monday, May 2, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and a Funeral Service at 1:00 pm in the Grand Chapel at Brookside Funeral home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039 followed by a burial at Brookside Memorial Park.
