Evelia Villarreal

Evelia Resendez Villarreal of Houston Texas passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025 at the age of 92. Evelia was born on October 17, 1932 in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico where she grew up. She completed middle school and later obtained her GED in 1984 in the United States. Evelia was very proud of becoming a citizen of the United States when naturalized, we think in the early 80’s. Evelia worked cleaning houses and buildings, sold Avon and Tupperware for several years. Her final employment was a seamstress for Shasta furniture company. When Evelia was in her 50’s she joined the YMCA Seniors Group; a group that met weekly for meals, bingo, senior Olympics, and of course monthly birthday celebrations. She served as treasurer for many years; helping the group save money for the many bus trips they took throughout Texas and the US. This groups of friends even traveled to Mexico on occasion.

Evelia enjoyed crocheting and made blankets for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her family and consistently aimed to please others before herself.

She is preceded by her parents Rodolfo Resendez Cardenas and Esperanza Sanmiguel Ramirez; sister Nilda Resendez Diaz; husband Ruben C. Villarreal; children Santos Villarreal, Nazca Maria Villarreal, Amelia Villarreal, and Romelia Villarreal.

Evelia is survived by her brothers Rodolfo and Roberto Resendez Sanmiguel; and her children Juan Ruben Villarreal, Roberto Villarreal, Cynthia Amada Ainsworth, and Benigno Villarreal and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Cynthia Villarreal and Dr. Delfino Garcia for the care and compassion showed our loved one in her final days.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Prayer service at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday September 9, 2025 at Funeraria Del Angel at 4136 Broadway St. Houston, Texas 77087. Visitation with the family will begin at 4 p.m.

The funeral service will at Funeraria Del Angel at 1 p.m. on Wednesday September 10, 2025. The interment location is Forrest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale St. Houston TX 77023
