Faye graduated from college at the age of 19 from Jacksonville State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education. She was known for being a kind and beloved school teacher at Woodview Elementary, where she taught for 20 years. Her impact as an inspirational teacher was profound, as students would frequently visit her at home during summer breaks.
Faye was married to her husband, Rufus, for 42 years. She is survived by Lynn Cox, daughter, and her husband John Ramey; Terry Mehr, daughter, and her husband Louis Mehr; Lynette Gilbert, sister; Christopher Ramey, grandson, and his wife Narelle Ramey; and Sophie Ramey, Cooper Ramey, and Savannah Ramey, great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus, and her brothers Joseph Kidd and John Kidd.
Faye loved doing crafts and had a highly specialized set of skills when it came to decorating for the holidays and special events at her church. She enjoyed making ceramics and even owned her own kiln. Faye also liked flower arranging and tending to the pecan trees that her husband planted. Additionally, she loved reading and watching Houston Astros games.
The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by Hannah Aheimer and the staff of Bayou City Hospice Katy, as well as the staff of Caydance Assisted Living and Memory Care.

A visitation will be held on September 24, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the same location. A committal service will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
Faye K. Cox will be fondly remembered for her inspirational influence and the lasting legacy she leaves behind.
