1941 - 2019
Frank Allison Kelly passed away December 3, 2019 in Cypress, TX surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Frank was born to Mr. William Ross Kelly and Mrs. Tommie Palmer Kelly on October 25,1941 in Houston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents and older brother, William Ross Kelly II. He is survived by his younger sister, Cheri Ann Kelly; his wife of 44 years, Carolyn Lewis Kelly; children Laura Kelly Nance (Jack), Michael Kelly (Shari), Connie Kelly Young (Ty), Cari Kelly Houser (Justin), and Rebecca 'Bo' Kelly; grandchildren Melissa, Bryan, Shae, JT, Christopher, Ashley, Cameron, Patrick, Caitlin, Henry and Charli; great grandchildren Jayda, Edie, Cori, Ariya, Mia, Maci, Artemis and Damien; several nieces and nephews, and many close friends and extended family
members.
Frank was a life long and proud Houstonian - a class of 1960 graduate of Jefferson Davis High School (now Northside) and an avid Astros, Oilers, Texans and Rockets fan. Though residing in Houston, the Kelly family also spent a great deal of time, for generations, beach combing and crabbing on Galveston Island. Frank loved to keep busy outdoors and was known for tending to his animals, creative gardens, turtle pens and pitching practice.
As a young man, Frank had become a master bricklayer and many of his creations are still intact and enjoyed at various family homes today. In the 1980s, Frank and Carolyn both began careers with the Cypress Fairbanks School District and retired together in the early 2000s.
During retirement, Frank and Carolyn enjoyed spending time with their grand and great grandchildren; and also farming, hunting and traveling with dear, lifelong friends, Clifford Henderson and his late wife, Sharon Henderson.
They regularly enjoyed traveling to Florida for the Astros Spring Training and just last year Frank marked a big check off his bucket list with a cruise to Alaska!
Family and friends will remember him - whether it be as Dad, Pops, Mr. Kelly or Frank - for his quiet demeanor, wit, warmth, generosity, genuine interest and welcoming smile. He was a true treasure and friend to all who knew him and his memory will forever be in our hearts.
We will celebrate Frank's life and journey to Heaven with Funeral and Graveside Services to be held at Brookside Funeral Home & Memorial Park located at 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039 on December 6, 2019 at 2:30 pm. Visitation will be from 1pm - 2:30pm.
