Frank joined the United States Navy in August 1941 at the age of 17. He proudly served in World War II aboard the ship USS Harveson and did submarine duty on the USS Cavalla. The navy was truly his passion and reflected in his everyday living. He retired from the Navy in 1984. He later retired from Panhandle Eastern/Truckline in 1987.
In 1955 he met the love of his life, Carmen (Lucy) Calderon, while on shore leave in Puerto Rico. They married on April 20, 1955 and then he brought her to Houston, Texas to serve as his first mate for the rest of his life.
In December 1956, they welcomed their daughter Kim Jeannette. Together he and Lucy built a wonderful life together with their daughter.
When he spent time with his granddaughters it was total bliss for him. The good times rolled when the three of them were together, big wheel riding, pizza on the BBQ, swimming in the blowup pool, and whipped cream squirted straight in the girls mouths. The love was overflowing between the three of them.
Frank never lost the twinkle in his eyes for his love Lucy. For the last 10 years just as they had stood side by side for the first 50 years, Frank walked hand in hand with Lucy as his sole caregiver and best friend.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lucy; daughter, Kim Januszewski and husband Tommie of Brenham, Texas; granddaughters, Tiffany Davenport and husband Wesley of Forsyth, Montana and Brittany Jacob and husband Tanner of Carmine, Texas; great-grandsons, Kroy Davenport and Kannon Jacob; sisters-in-law, Elba Mayfield and Betty Stautberg.
The family would like to thank Dr. Donald Hanser and his staff. They would also like to thank Linda Rangel, Alma Perez, and Ramon Castillian for their excellent assistance in caring for Frank.
Frank was a happy, caring, giving, fun loving husband, father and papa. He would want no tears today, only joy. So when you think of him today, celebrate his life and drink a beer!
