

The most excellent of friends, after completing his Catholic schooling, Gary graduated from Iona University and joined the United States Air Force. As a pilot and pilot instructor, he served his country during the Korean War.
After his honorable discharge, Gary earned his master’s degree specializing in emerging technology. He was ultimately employed by IBM in Houston, Texas. His interest in public health was stimulated by the Texas Medical Center.
Gary volunteered at M.D. Anderson Cancer Research Hospital where he eventually became a patient.
Gary also volunteered at Omega House. He participated in multiple vaccine trials for shingles, herpes, bird flu, and other diseases. His compassion for the living, friends, animals, plants, and suffering strangers, was evident throughout his daily life.
Gary’s playful vim and vigor will be missed by a multitude of friends who loved him and most especially by those able to help him in his last days.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral mass on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church at 10:30 am, 11720 Joan of Arc Dr., Houston, Texas 77024, to be followed by the rite of committal at Memorial Oaks Cemetery; 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079. A reception will follow in the Magnolia Venue of Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.
