Mom was born and raised in Houston, Texas, to Serapio and Ascension Martinez. As a young woman in the 1940s, Mom enjoyed working, going shopping with her sisters, and dressing up in the latest fashion. In her early twenties, she travelled to Chicago, Illinois. While there, she met the love of her life, Francisco Trinidad, and moved to Chicago. They began a lifelong partnership rooted in faith and family that lasted 58 years.
In the late 1960s, Dad and Mom moved to Houston. She continued to work and raised her family of seven children. She enjoyed music, singing, dancing, and getting together with her large extended family. She was an excellent cook, and her specialty was a savory pot of arroz con gandules. Her home-cooked meals brought family and friends together and will be remembered as expressions of her love.
Mom is survived by her five children: Judy Reyes (Ismael), Roy Trinidad, Camille Moreno, Rose Trinidad, and Diego Trinidad, 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, her sister, Valentina Lopez, and innumerable cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Francisco, her two sons, Frank Trinidad Jr and Leonard Trinidad, her parents, two sisters, and five brothers.
Our family would like to sincerely thank all the family and friends who supported and visited her throughout her illness. A special thanks to Abbi who helped care for mom, Alicia Moreno, mom’s caregiver, and Vitas Hospice Care for their compassionate support. Lastly, our heartfelt thanks to Roy. You were a devoted son and gave mom reassurance when she needed it most. We will forever be grateful for the dedication and love you provided mom during her illness.
Mom loved her family, always placing their needs above her own. We will forever be grateful for her unconditional love. While she will be deeply missed, our family rejoices in the assurance she rests in our Savior’s loving embrace. May God grant her mercy, peace, and eternal rest.
