George Cabuco Cabigon Jr. was born in the province of Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines on the 27th of January, 1951 as the first and only child to Estefania and George Cabigon. He attended nursing school at St. Rita School of Nursing, where he met his soon to be wife, Luzviminda, and graduated from there in 1974. George continued his education after leaving St. Rita and shortly thereafter completed his Bachelor's of Science in Nursing at Manila Central University in
1975. Also, in August 11th of 1974 and on the 18th in 1975 respectively, they were blessed with their first two children, his son Voltaire and daughter Mary Anne.
On March 20, 1978, they welcomed their third child Venus, and a year later in 1979, George and Luzviminda made there way to the United States, initially settling in Chicago, before finally making their home here in Houston, Texas in 1981. In 1982, on November 23rd , Michelle, their youngest daughter was born. George continued working in Houston, with a career in real estate, and also as a registered nurse. He was completely devoted to supporting his family, and it could be easily seen that his children were the most important part of his life.
George was also a very avid orchid enthusiast. He spent countless hours tending to his vast collection of orchids, and could even be found having the casual conversation with his flowers, who he sometimes jokingly referred to as his “babies”. When he was not tending to his orchid hobby, he would sometimes
spend his time as a very meticulous chess and mahjong player. He also loved to travel and was very sentimental about music. He was known to be very kind and sociable, yet he made it a point to be modest and humble as well.
George is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years Luzviminda (Minda) Pagaduan Cabigon; his son Voltaire, and daughters Mary Anne, Venus, and Michelle. He is also survived by his four grandchildren; Adam, Asia, Mykal, and Mila. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all that knew him.
