Gil went to be with Christ on Saturday June 18, 2016 after a six month battle with Leukemia. He was born on September 2, 1928 in Osage County, Oklahoma to Gilbert Thomas Lamberson, Sr. and Ida Susie Willkerson Lamberson. After graduating from Drumright HS in Drumright, OK, he enlisted in the US Army soon after his 18th birthday. Gilbert served in the Army as Military Police in Post-War Japan for 1 year, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Lieutenant. He received his Bachelor of Science in Geology from Oklahoma A&M University (Now OSU) in 1952. After graduation he worked for Dowell-United Oil Company, which became Dowell-Schlumberger. Colleagues remember Gilbert as one of the most respected pioneers of Dowell-Schlumberger in Patagonia in the early 1960’s. During his 30+ years in the oil and gas industry, he served in various capacities all over the world, including Argentina, Venezuela, Australia, France, and Nigeria. He traveled extensively after settling in Houston in 1971 – including China, the USSR, and India.
While working in Alice, Texas during the early 1950’s, he met his wife of almost 62 years, Abbie Miller. Gilbert and Abbie married on August 15, 1953 and enjoyed many adventures overseas as a couple and with their children. Gilbert's greatest loves were The Word, his wife and family, gardening, and cooking. A faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Gil served in various capacities including Elder and Parish Education Board Member.
Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Ida Lamberson, Brothers Charles and William, and his beloved wife Abbie. He is survived by his son George and wife Lisa, and son Robert and wife Diane. Grandchildren are Amanda, Geoffrey, Grace, Rory, and Maryann. In addition to numerous nephews and family, Gil was blessed to have many good friends, especially his dear friend Hector Chavez.
