

Irene Patty Horine, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at her residence in Sugar Land, TX.
Irene was born January 28, 1940 in Corpus Christi, TX to the late Richard and Jennie Patty. She was the oldest of two children.
Irene graduated from Aransas Pass High School and attended Del Mar College in Corpus Christi.
Irene was married to the love of her life, the late, Ralph E. Horine Jr. in 1959. Together in their union, they had three children, Cynthia Smith, (Steve), Ralph A. Horine, (Dana) and Melissa Oakes, (Barry).
Irene led an active life being involved in all activities her children were in including Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout mom, R.King High School band boosters and also dabbled a bit in Tupperware and Avon. In earlier years camping was a family favorite and went often.
Most recently she loved being with her friends at her residence facility and often could be found playing Mexican Train dominoes and Bingo.
She had the best personality. Loved her children’s friends as her own. Her sassy, funny, loving, kind and generous heart will truly be missed.
She was best known by family and friends as Cooter and later in life as Toot, started by her niece Tiffany Coles, and progressed with the grandchildren and great grandchildren, some also calling her Toot Toot.
Irene is survived by her sister Elizabeth Coles of Victoria, TX, her children Cindy Smith (Steve) of Mathis TX, Ralph Horine (Dana) of Sugar Land TX and Melissa Oakes (Barry)of Horseshoe Bay TX.
Her grandchildren Bobby Lynn Jr, Stephanie Bright, Jennifer Stevenson, (JB), Jessica Medziuch, (Michael), Tyler Flores, Sarah Flores, who will be married in November 2024 to Keenan Wilson. She was also blessed with bonus grandchildren Sean Oakes, (Alexis) of Tulsa OK, Ryan Oakes, (Kendall) of Waco TX, Stella and Maddie Oakes of Houston TX and Lance Smith of Allentown, PA.
She also leaves behind 10 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins as well as a wonderful group of best friends.
A memorial service to honor Irene's life will be October 7, 2024, at 11am River Pointe Church
