Glenn was a family member that I was not aware of until earlier this year.  We e-mailed and talked at least once a week for quite a while, we would spend hours on the phone talking about many things, I learned a lot about our family that I never knew about in 57 yrs.  He and I had a lot of things in common including a love of certain automobiles and outdoor power equipment. We had talked about a lot of things and trying to meet one day back in Johnsonburg, But apparently our Lord had another plan for him, we will meet one day as planned.  He is truly missed by me and many others but he is at peace now without the problems he has been living with for years.

My sincere  and deepest sympathy to Glenn ‘s family. I have known Glenn for over 50 years. He was a wonderful, kind and loving friend and we talked often through the years. He loved my family and we always invited him to our family get to-gethers. Especially thanksgiving. 
He loved good food and we always had plenty. We would load him up with leftovers and my home made chocolate pie. 
My father was a Navy man and they would sit around and tell their navy stories. 
When he went into the hospital, he let me know and kept in touch as they proceeded with the surgeries he was to face. He was worried but had great faith in God and was not afraid of leaving this world. I lost touch with him but thought maybe he was in re-jab and couldn’t call me for a few days. I found out today he passed. I am shocked and full of grief. So saddened to see my friend go. I will miss him so much. The last thing he said to me was  for me to be good,  He wanted all his family and friends to be with him in heaven.  He is now in the loving arms of his maker. 
He will be missed. I loved Glenn. He was my oldest and dearest friend in life. 


Glenn was my 1st cousin. He was a senior in high school when the then-new Johnsonburg Jr.- Sr. High School opened it's doors, for the first time, to begin the 1963-1964 school year. I was just starting 7th grade, of Jr. High that year.  On his way to school that year, Glenn would pick me up every day, on the street where I lived, and give me a ride to school with him, in his 1955 Chevrolet Belair 2-door sedan. I thought it was a really cool car, and felt really proud to be seen riding with him in it. It was about the most time I ever spent with him, and gave me the opportunity to come to know him, somewhat. I really missed those rides with him, after he graduated that year, and left for the Navy. The times were short, few, and far between, when I would ever see him again. May God Rest His Soul !

Glenn was my little brother. Here are some fond memories I have of him....

One time I was taking care of him at home. Our folks had a large round heating stove filled with coal that was in our living room. I remember lifting the lid and to this day I still have a scar on my finger . Glenn was little then about five months old. I was pushing him in a baby buggy  back and forth.  I was four at that time  but we were warm. That is a very vivid memory for me.

Then when I was in the fourth grade Glenn got polio. We were all quarantined at home. Glenn was put in the Bradford Hospital so he could get well. We went to visit him several times.   I couldn't go inside but waved to him thru the window. He got better but had to go thru rehabilitation down in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was there for months but finally got to come home. 

When we graduated from High School we both went into the Navy. I went first in 1961 and was aboard the USS Oriskany CVA 34 when Glenn finished electrician  school in San Diego, California he went aboard the USS Green and soon found out that that he was mostly sea sick. He asked me to transfer to the Oriskany  which is called "brother duty" he did in about May 1965 . Then on May 1966 we had a shipboard fire that killed forty-seven crew members. The fire started about seven am and didn't go out until evening. We didn't learn whether we were both ok until eight o'clock in the evening.

I have been close friends with Glenn since high school. The last time we were face to face  was around 2005 but we've talked on the phone at least once a month or every other month for the last 20 years . We would spend an hour or two solving the problems of the world , reminiscing, catching up on the news about classmates  and just plain shooting the bull as they say. We also exchanged many e-mails and photos of the snow here in PA during the winter months. Glenn missed the snow.  I had 4 brothers and 3 close friends that I considered "adopted" brothers and Glenn was one of them. My Dad was a union electrician and helped Glenn get into the union and he worked as a union electrician until he retired. Glenn was a great guy , a good friend and worried more about others than himself! I'm going to miss him and those phone calls. Rest In Peace my friend.

Glenn was my cousin.  We lived only a block away from each  other growing up. He and his brother John were part of the third street gang of boys who mostly played in the woods, fished, hunted, picked berries, rode our bikes and were just boys.  Glenn served his country in the Navy on various ships and he and his brother John served on Oriskany during a terribler fire. He will be missed!
