Glenn Cruz Ignacio fought through many things in his life. He fought for his family, a life of his own, for love, his health…and he won them all.
Born on August 25, 1961, in Malabon, Philippines, he was the youngest son of Leon and Julita Ignacio, and was raised in Manila with his 5 siblings – brothers, Lionel, Ramon Rainer, and Edgardo, and sisters, Belinda and Blesilda.
Glenn was a very serious student in the classroom. He could organize and complete any task that was given to him. His favorite subject was Science, graduating from Far Eastern University in 1979 and ultimately pursuing and achieving his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from University of Santo Tomas in 1983. His extracurricular activities included joining the Economics Society and Pax Romana. While his studies were important to him, his first love was in the sport of basketball, partaking in his school’s varsity teams.
He was loyal to his friends. He found that he was most in tune with people who had similar interests and thought about things much the way that he did. Growing up, some of his best friends were Dino, Ned, and Cesar, later befriending Manny Pascual.
On January 19, 1991, Glenn exchanged wedding vows with Annalie Mangahas at San Augustin Catholic Church of Manila, Philippines. Annalie's influence brought Glenn to a new emotional level, one that eventually enhanced all his other gifts and abilities.
Glenn often neglected his own feelings in order to give to others. This was very true when it came to how he dealt with his children. He had 3, one daughter, Gleann Rae (Annie), and two sons, Aaron and Gabriel. They were always aware of how much their dad loved them. He was able to hand on to each child a number of strong values, having taught them to appreciate their abilities, work harder despite all obstacles, and the importance of family. Glenn loved and adored his pets, especially Kamino, a 5-year-old black Pitbull. He held a strong regard to family time.
During Glenn's professional working years, he was at his best when working independently. He was self-employed, operating his own restaurant and store with his wife.
His outside interests and hobbies included cooking, watching movies, meeting athletes, and collecting sports memorabilia and souvenirs such as mugs and hats. He was the best chef to his family and enjoyed watching the Houston Rockets and Astros games and other sporting events.
Glenn's faith allowed him to better appreciate the gifts and simple pleasures of life. This deepening aspect of his life helped him to accept his own feelings to a greater degree. He was a church goer at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church.
Glenn Cruz Ignacio passed away on November 12, 2021, peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Glenn won his 9-year battle with cancer, which he chose to deal with privately. He is survived by his wife Annalie, children Gleann Rae (Annie), Aaron, and Gabriel; his older siblings, brothers Lionel and Ramon Rainier and sisters Belinda and Blesilda. He is preceded in death by his father Leon and brother Edgardo.
A visitation will be held Monday, November 22, 2021, at Brookside Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on November 23, 2021, at St. Mary Magdalene Church. Brookside Cemetery - Resurrection Garden in Houston, Texas.
Glenn had faith through his journey and wanted to be remembered by others as someone who touched and made an impact to those who were a part of his life. His family and friends will miss his presence, special recipes, dad jokes and his love. He leaves with all those who knew him many wonderful memories.
