Grace Dean Wilson moved into her Mansion in the sky on Saturday October 22, 2011 at 10:15 in the evening. She was born February 22, 1929 in Owensboro, KY to Coleman Herbert Ellis and Audrey Burch Morgan. She graduated from Owensboro High School, and then went on to marry the love of her life Robert “Cotton” Edwin Wilson. Their life was full of joy and love; they shared a love of golf and spent many years making lifelong friends in the country club. They attended the Christian Church wherever they lived and were active members, helping in every way they could. Grace had her own way of reaching out to others and making them smile. She stood by what she believed no matter the cost and her faith and strength should be admired by all.
Grace had a love of cards and wanted to go to Vegas any chance she got. She had a spark and charisma that anyone would be able to see the minute you met her. After her husband’s death Grace moved into the Park Grove Apartment complex, and became a very outspoken, but widely loved voice in the community. She was the “poker Champion” often and always was ready for a game of dominos.
Grace is remembered by her son, Robert Steven Wilson, his wife Mary Anne Wilson, Her daughter, Susan Dean Lee, her husband Stanley Lee. She is also survived by grandchildren Brittany Lee, Tiffany and Nathan Green, Kristin Wilson, Cole Wilson, Keely and Gabe Rex, Kate and Tony Bolfing, and Tony and Heather Davis. And lastly she also is survived by her great grandchildren Brody Rex, Hayden Davis, and Davis Bolfing.
Grace Wilson could not have left more of a lasting impact on her family. Her Strength through sickness, loss of her husband, and joy of life is something any family would be lucky to have be a constant force through life’s obstacles. She was strong willed, but most importantly strong. She was fighting up to her last breath, and her “finger pointing they say” advice will be missed greatly. No one will be able to replace the Firecracker she has been in our lives, but we know she is now in the arms of our Savior. She is finally re-united with Cotton and they are teeing off at the greatest course of their lives.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Interment will follow in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
