Graciela Lombard passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, in Katy, TX, at the age of 72; after a four year battle with brain cancer. She was a loving wife, mother and abuela. She is survived by her loving husband Alfredo, her daughters Giselle and Melina (Matt and granddaughters Emma, Olivia and Mia), son Gonzalo (Kimberly), and an endless number of loving family and friends, near and far.
Graciela was born in Girodías, a small town in the Buenos Aires province of Argentina, to Celestino Benito and Teresa Gonzalo, who raised her and her sister Gladys in the nearby town of 30 de Agosto, Argentina. She met Alfredo during her teenage years at various town events, and formed a relationship that lasted almost 6 decades. During their first years together, Graciela supported Alfredo’s high school and then university studies hours away from their town, and continued building their relationship through their marriage in December 1977, and the 48 years together ever since. Graciela and Alfredo lived in Buenos Aires, where they welcomed daughter Giselle, followed by daughter Melina. A few years later, the arrival of son Gonzalo completed the family Graciela was so devoted to. Throughout the years, Graciela was the core of the family as they moved to Chile, then Mexico and eventually Texas, always keeping them together and on track, through the changes and challenges that came from uprooting small children every few years. No matter where life took them, from social groups to prayer circles and tennis teams; Graciela had this innate ability to connect with people of similar or different backgrounds, and form friendships that lasted a lifetime. She always put others' needs first, caring carefully for those that she loved most and those not as fortunate as her. She was fully committed to her husband and children, and later on granddaughters, never missing the opportunity to do something special for them, whether a little token of her appreciation or a perfect celebration for a special occasion.
Although Graciela is no longer with us, the memories of her in the kitchen dancing and making cookies, always at the ready for a game of cards or dominoes, playing and caring for her granddaughters, and many other moments, will live forever in those that were fortunate enough to have her in their lives.
The family would like to extend its sincere appreciation to those that stayed close to Graciela during her battle with cancer and who provided comfort and support through the difficult times she unfortunately had to endure. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, May 12 at 11:00 am at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church (1530 Norwalk Dr, Katy TX, 77450). In lieu of flowers or other gifts to the family, please consider a donation to Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church, St. Vincent de Paul, or the American Cancer Society (donations for Epiphany or St. Vincent de Paul can be made through the same giving portal by selecting Sunday Offertory or St. Vincent de Paul Society-Epiphany, as preferred, and add "in memory of Graciela Lombard" so gifts can be appropriately assigned).
