

He was born on March 15th, 1955 to Harry and Christine Kocian in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His family moved throughout the years due to his father’s career. In addition to Pennsylvania, he also lived in West Virginia, Michigan, Louisiana, Delaware, and eventually settled in Texas. Greg attended Texas Tech University and then later in Delaware, he attended night school at Goldey-Beacom College, obtaining an Associates Degree.
While living in Houston, he met and married the former Joyce James on June 2nd, 1984 with whom he raised his stepson Brian McCauley. They had two children together Jeffrey and Kevin.
He thrived as a salesman, lastly working for Windsor until 2008 when Greg had to stop working due to his disability. At that time, he was in the top 10 among salespersons in the company. He also received special recognition in 1999 when working for Nilfisk-Advance as their Rookie of the Year. He won numerous sales vacations over the years to places such as Spain, Hong Kong, Costa Rica, the Smoky Mountains, and even a trip to the Super Bowl.
He was a loving husband and father, and devoted to his Christian faith. He frequently volunteered his time, being actively involved in his children’s activities and his church. Greg volunteered as a little league coach, was active with the Scouts, and was eventually elected President of the Cy-Falls Band Boosters. He could also always be spotted attending one of his boys’ activities. At Bear Creek Community Church, he helped manage the Church’s audio system and participated in various Bible Studies and men’s group activities. He joined Cypress Bible Church with Joyce where he continued to participate in various Church activities until he was no longer able. He enjoyed traveling, cooking and eating his favorite foods, trying new cuisines, and above all, he deeply loved spending time with his family and friends.
Greg is survived by his wife Joyce, stepson Brian and wife Lisa McCauley, son Jeff and wife Leanne, son Kevin and wife Tracy, grandchildren Kaylee, Madeline, Evelyn, Caleb, and Olivia, his siblings Mark, Eric and wife Annette, and Carol Kocian, and numerous other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Christine.
A celebration of Greg’s life will be at 1:00 PM on March 21st, 2026 at Cypress Bible Church Chapel located at 11711 Cypress North Houston Rd., Cypress, Texas, 77429. The family requests attendees wear bright colors.
Memorial donations in Greg’s honor may be made to Care Partners Texas, which helps run the local Gathering Place, a monthly program that Greg enjoyed attending for several years. Additional information on giving is available on their website.
