

Dr. Gregory Nnadi Uche, PhD, of Umuri, Amaimo, Ikeduru, LGA of Imo State, Nigeria, passed away on January 19, 2025, in Houston, Texas at the age of 69.
Visitation will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at St. Albert Catholic Church, 11027 S. Gessner Rd., Houston, TX 77071.
Funeral Mass will begin at 2:00 pm on April 5, 2025, at St. Albert Catholic Church by Rev. Fr. Sebastine Soja Okoye (Pastor of St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Freeport, Texas).
There will be another Funeral Mass in his hometown in Umuri, Amaimo, Ikeduru on April 25th, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Mass will be celebrated by His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. Augustine Ukwuoma of Orlu Diocese, Imo State, Nigeria. Burial will follow in his chapel at the Uche’s compound in Umuri, Amaimo.
Dr. Uche was born in Takoradi, Ghana to Stephen Uche and Rosana Uche Nee Okoro on June 23, 1955. He went to school at Monsignor Ansar in Takoradi, Ghana. He married his wife, Dr. Stella Obi Uche, on September 9, 1989, in Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria. He graduated from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, and received his PhD in Education from the University of Hull, England. He worked as a professor at Walden University for over 14 years. In addition to being a dedicated educator, he was an author, his latest book being 'African Folktales: Exotic Stories from Africa for Children Around the World'. Dr. Uche was involved in his community in various roles including Club A-6 (Amaimo), Amaimo Community USA (Pioneer Member and Chairperson), and Greater Owerri Community Houston, Texas (Former President). He also received the Coach of the Year award during his time with Waltrip High School after winning the district championship.
He is preceded in death by Stephen Uche (father), Rosanna Uche (mother), and Emmanuel Uche (brother).
He is survived by his wife, Stellagreg Obi Uche, his children, Chidozie Gregory Uche Jr., JD, and Chisomaga Adrian Uche, and sisters, Cecilia Anuforo, Veronica Onyenemerem, Anne Ibe, Rev. Sister Margret Uche, and Jovita Orji.
The family of Gregory Uche wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Okezie Aguruo, MD. (PCP) and staff of Unity Family Clinic, Dr. Jorge Darcourt and Staff of Texas Oncology, and the staff of the University Place Nursing Home. We wish to thank the St. Laurence African Community (SLACC) and his in-laws in the Obi family, in particular Magdalen Emeruwa, Gregory Obi, M.D., Philomena Amanze, Petronilla Obi, Acho Emeruwa, M.D. and Obinna Emeruwa, M.D. Sincere thanks to his friends Dr. Pauline Igwe, Celine Njemanze, Henry Uba, Dr. Anthony Obi, Faban Asamonye, Jones Anaele, Theresa Idoko, Rev.
