It was with great sadness that we received the new of the passing of "Chief-Greg" as we fondly referred to him. When we saw him and Stella in May 2024 when we were in the US, we had a great time together, but little did we know that would be the the last time! We thank God for his life, for his lovely family and for the wonderful memories he has left behind. We pray for the sweet repose of his soul and for peace and comfort for all those left behind, most especially for Stella and the children. Rest in peace our dear friend and brother.

There is certainly no way we can understand why Prof. Greg Uche would leave this world at this time. Nothing is adequate to express the profound sadness in our hearts as we grapple with this unexpected departure of a great soul.

Prof, it has been a great honor and blessing  of our lives 
to have known and shared precious moments with you.

To know you is to know kindness, the fear of and dedication to God, humility, decency, dignity, selflessness and a heart that is ever willing to embrace peoples problems and seek solutions. 

To listen to you is to  tap into a fountain of wisdom and be guided by a voice that both steadies the mind and inspires the man to good works. 

As we struggle to come to terms with your   sudden relocation to the heavenly abode in God’s presence, we thank you for being a good brother, a gracious friend and a great man to us and the world you left behind.  We pray God to comfort your family and loved ones.

TRIBUTE TO MY BELOVED PROF. GREG UCHE

Prof Greg Uche, your picture that played out in my mind when I heard about your passing into Glory and Eternity was the picture of our first meeting. I recall this slim, tall gentleman alighting from his office car as a Director of the then Federal Government agency, MAMSER. In my mind, then, I wished I was this gentle and handsome man who humbly greeted us. 

On learning that he went through the seminary school, I could easily explain the two sided appearance in his attitude: a priest and a gentleman. 

He obviously remained the same gentleman I met the first day till his last breath and ascending into God's glory. His humility and intelligence were unrivaled.

You had an innate passion for enlightening the mind. When I visited your family in Houston a few years ago, our conversations were nothing short of profound. Listening to you was like attending a masterclass in wisdom—I felt as though I had been schooled for an entire year in just a few hours. Even after I was overwhelmed with knowledge, you continued to share with the same generosity of spirit.

Dear all, life is not always a glittering and appealing picture. I saw Prof Greg last in December 2024 at his elder brother's funeral. Though he was sick, the physical weakness never affected his intelligence. The Real Igbo-man in him eloquently played out in his responses and appreciation to the huge friends and families gathered for the brother's funeral. His language was like he presented himself to his people for the last time. As he always did, he richly addressed the people in his native Igbo dialect.

Prof. Greg, your departure is deeply felt by your wife, children, friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing you. Yet, we take solace in the remarkable life you lived and the examples you set. Your unwavering faith in Christ Jesus reassures us that you are now in the arms of your Creator.

Dear Prof Uche, rest in peace in our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

TRIBUTE TO MY VERY GOOD FRIEND AND BROTHER

PROF. GREGORY NNADI UCHE (OYIM NWOKE)

It was such a while, yet so short a time. When the news of your passing on came to me the scriptural text “Jesus wept” weighed heavily on me, a mere mortal. I pray may God in his infinite mercy receive your soul. I struggled for strength to put down these few lines.

By divine providence we met each other very early in our lives and would say made every impressive impact on each other in this over sixty years of friendship. You led me to join you as an Alter Saver at St. Columbas Cath. Church, Amaimo. We went to the same Primary school, Christ the King School Amaimo and St. Peter Cleavers Seminary Okpala. for our Secondary Education.  With an excellent Gen. Certi. of Education result at the end of our secondary education when you sought my opinion just like other peers, I urged you to take a degree in law and make an outstanding career of it, but it was not to be due to external social influence.

There were no dull moments anytime we were together. Hence, Greg would commonly say we were like twins. We saw the ups and downs of life and were never oblivious of our humble background.

There were several incidences and coincidences in our life that made us bond even stronger. There was an incident of Air raid in the fall of 1969. We were about walking home when for the first time in our town a fighter jet with a deafening sound few past us at very low altitude. We ran to take cover. Within a minute it came back as if it sighted us. This time by reflex we ran in different directions and so missed each other. On the third sooty the fighter jet released its bombs with deafening explosions. Thank God we survived it unscarred “Osundu agwu ike”. We later found each other after about 20 minutes along Nkwo-imo road.
As true friends we were very supportive of each other as the Lord gave us opportunities. Now death has separated that friendship. Oyim nowke has gone ahead, the way of all mortals..

To BORIC, MY DEAR BROTHER.

Dear Prof Greg,
Writing this about you, Greg, would have been understandable in a nightmarish dream, in which one would have woken up to the relief that it was all a dream. But here it's a real live reality! I recall your sharing with my wife on the 5th January 2025 when we came to see you off at Legend Hotel, Ikeja, that you were ready to go and be with the Lord any moment. You believed you had successfully accomplished your race. In a fit of eery emotion we rebuked you, didn't accept your judgement, as we believed you still had a lot to accomplish. Surely you were seeing the greater glory beckoning on you. Indeed we all know only in part! 

We do not know why but you've chosen at this point to shed off this corrupt and mortal body to put on the garb of immotality prepared by the Lord for you so you can join the hosts of the saints in the heavenly abode. We're left with ever flowing tears because you've left a unique and yawning vaccum in our lives which none elsebn can fill.

Space constraints restrict me from telling a whole lot about your prawess, within your allocated time on this horizon. You were a cerebral and versatile leader, influencer, teacher, motivator, writer, public speaker, youths leader, peer leader, career motivator and social worker, widely travelled, yet so homely and down to earth - your influence loomed unmistakablely large within every circle, especially with your gifting in oratory and as extempore speaker. I can hardly scratch the surface of your many superlatives.

Boric (as you're fondly called), we relish the moments we shared with you on this terrestrial plane. It was so eventful yet so fleeting!! 

We commit your beloved wife, "HONEYBORIC", your amazing boys and your siblings to the care of the Almighty who alone knows how to keep them. 

Enjoy your rest in the Bossom of our lord till we meet in glory!

Oh, how are the mighty fallen, Amaimo community in USA, ACUSA has indeed lost an ICON, a great man, and the first president of ACUSA. Dr Greg Uche you will be forever remembered for all your great works to humanity and to Amaimo community. I remembered your solid contributions and great advice during our meetings, some of which has helped to shape and added to the growth of ACUSA.
Your passing has left a void in our lives, but your memory lives on. I pray for your gentle soul to rest in perfect peace and may the Lord comfort your wife, children and all those that loved and cared about you.

As we say goodbye to our beloved uncle Prof. Greg Uche,  lets honor his memory by carrying forward his legacy of love and community spirit. No words can express my grief. May the Almighty God give Him the eternal rest in his paradise and may the perpetual light shine upon Him in Jesus name. Amen.

A Tribute to a Great Brother-In-Law, Professor Gregory Nnadi Uche

Greg, we were with you in Nigeria in December 2024. You and Stella were sponsors at my cousin’s wedding. You returned and were hospitalized. We were all hopeful that it would be a short hospital stay. On January 17th, I flew to Houston for a short weekend trip to visit with you. Rather, I was there on that faithful day of January 19th, the day your life changed. It was unexpected. It was a sad day.
 But today, April 5th, is an exceptionally sad day.  This gathering is an affirmation that our hope of your recovery was not to be. You had finally transitioned to be with your God. Indeed, a life change though not the end of it. It is not the end because we live with the memories of what you were to us.
Professor Gregoy Nnadi Uche made the best of his life on earth. He embraced life joyfully. He was visibly genuine and kind. He was a great brother-in-law to the Obi and Emeruwa families. You reminded us of times to celebrate each other or Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Medical Missions. You paid surprise visits to my late mother, Nneoma Mrs. Rachael Obi. You organized my mother’s 89th birthday in Houston. My mother cherished the album of the events of that party until she passed three years later. On the one-year anniversary of my mother’s death, you Prof Uche organized patients and ensured orderly delivery of the medical mission in Ohaji in honor of my mother.
Gregory Uche was quite religious. He practiced his catholic faith till the end. His quiet demeanor reflected his seminary upbringing. He carried himself with grace and dignity.
Greg, your departure has left a void on us. It has been difficult for us to imagine you not in the present. But we will cherish the memories of things you did to teach us to embrace life with joy, ease and light-heartedness.
Rest in Peace with the Lord.

Brother Greg, when I remember you, I’m left with nothing but joyous memories. Your smile, your laugh, your joy, kindness, and your passion for Christ were truly infectious. An advisor, an advocate, a helper and a good in-law. I wish you were still here with us enjoying life, but I can understand why God would want such a handsome gentleman on his side from now until eternity.
