After an unexpected and sudden diagnosis with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia), Hans Friedrich Richter passed away peacefully on the 22nd of October 2025. We are heartbroken to say goodbye to a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend.
Hans was born on the 6th of October 1949, in Grenzach, Germany to Ernst and Anneliese Richter. He spent his early years playing in the vineyards helping with the harvest, driving the tractor, tinkering with and building cars, repairing and driving bicycles and motorcycles (basically exploring anything that moves). As the youngest recipient in Germany, he received his KFZ Meisterbrief certification on March 22, 1972. His favorite hobby was seeing earth from above while hang gliding and flying ultralight aircrafts in Europe with his friends. He had his pilot license and flew smaller airplanes.
Hans spent several years as a missionary in Burkina Faso in West Africa, where he taught the young men at a school everything, they need to know about car mechanics. Putting their gained knowledge to work they were able to build small things.
In 1992 he moved to Houston, Texas, where he eventually founded, in partnership, and launched the successful Texas-German Autohaus – TGA, a staple in Houston’s auto repair industry for European cars. His passion paired with his immense knowledge and customer service, created success, and built lasting friendships along the way.
The stars truly aligned when Hans met the love of his life, Christiane “Nane” Reich from Hamburg, Germany, in Houston, Texas in 1992. They married on the 15th of January 1994 and built a beautiful life together over the next 31 years, filled with adventure, laughter, and lots of love.
Hans brought energy, humor, and heart to everything he did. He was an incredible cook, recreating recipes (purely by taste) and usually making them better. He was a wine connoisseur who enjoyed a good glass of wine and champagne with his favorite meat or fish selection. He lived with authenticity, generosity, and purpose, leaving behind an unforgettable legacy of love and loyalty.
Hans is survived by his loving wife, Christiane “Nane”. He is also survived by his daughter Isabelle Richter along with her daughter Stefanie, and his son Alexander Richter with wife Corina along with their children: Maxim, Murielle, Nelson and Elodie. Hans leaves behind his brother Frieder with wife Marion along with their son Yanik.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother Ernst and Anneliese Richter.
