

Even though his death was untimely, he lived a very full and colorful life as a loving husband and father.
Harry was born in Jackson Tennessee on the 19th of November 1941, to Leonard B. and Hazel Bond Schaefer. Harry's younger brother was Leonard B. Schaefer.
As a young man, Harry actively participated in the growth and development of the family lumber business. Schaefer Lumber Company, founded by his grandfather, Harry Jacob Schaefer, who instilled in Harry a strong work ethic and sense of family pride. Harry had a particular love for his prize Black Angus Cattle and Quarter Horses.
At the age of 23, he married Judith Marie Vandiver. They were happily married for 44 years.
In 1971, Harry was actively sought by Hibbord, O’Connor and Weeks, and entered into the investment bond industry. He earned notoriety as a successful investment broker at Marcus, Stowell & Beye. In 1985, Harry opened Schaefer Securities and was renowned for being one of the greatest investment brokers of all time.
He was a generous contributor to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, March of Dimes, Ileitis & Colitis Foundation, the St. Jude’s Children's Miracle Network, and the Salvation Army, just to name a few.
Harry will be greatly missed by many and is survived by his three daughters, Silvia Lynn Sammons and husband, Harry “Chip” Sammons Jr., Stephanie Bond Schaefer, Samantha Marie Karabinas and husband, David Karabinas; his only son, Harry Sidney Schaefer II. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Harry Jacob Sammons, Zachary Brandt Sammons, Avery Bond Ross, Lanee Judith Ross, Ethan Quinn Karabinas and Gracie Marie Karabinas.
Funeral Service for Mr. Schaefer will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 25th of November, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the adjacent grand foyer.
At the conclusion of the reception, at approximately one o'clock, the escorted cortege will depart from Geo. H. Lewis & Sons for the interment site at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston, where the committal service is to be conducted.
As hard as Harry’s passing is, his family finds great comfort in knowing he is happily reunited with the love of his life, Judith Marie Vandiver Schaefer, who preceded him in death on the 6th of May 2009.
