Helen M. Alexander

Helen Mildred Alexander, 88 years of age of Houston, Texas peacefully left us on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 to be with our Father and take on her new position as our Angel . Born on August 10, 1933 with maiden name Helen Sullivan in Wiergate, Texas and 1 of 8 children to John Sullivan and Teri Sullivan. She was affectionately known as "Nana" to all. Helen was impressive and very strong willed. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age. She was a member of Williams Temple Church of God and Christ. Helen was faithful to all that knew her.

For a time, she lived in Bon Wier, TX and then Silsbee, TX. In her early 40's she moved to Houston, TX and married L.D Tyler and they went on to have two children, son Chester Lee Tyler and daughter, Helen Marie Tyler aka Pier Marie. Later she then married Roy Alexander. Nana worked as a cafeteria worker at Cage Elementary School for 12 years. She was dedicated contributor to the Disabled Veterans, Salvation Army and Houston Food Bank.

Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Chester Tyler and his wife Magdelena Tyler of Houston, TX and Pier Marie Tyler. Her Sister, Mary A. Sullivan. Her 5 grand-children, Shannon Oluwatuyi, Gerald Campbell, Terisha Tyler, Chester Tyler Jr. and Brandon Tyler. Her 11 great-grandchildren, Tyrone McFarlin, Portia aka Nechelle Campbell, Kendrick Callis, DeMarcus Callis, Gerald Cheeks, Mercedes Campbell, Christian Tyler, Eric Dixon Jr., Jarius Dixon, Jaicori Dixon and Eriel Dixon. Nana's 14 great-great-grandchildren, Ke'Maria, Ja'Mari, Skye, Kennedi, Kaiden, Kobi, Kirstin, Karly, Jaiden, Nylah, LaLani, and Gavin. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation for Helen will be held Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Friday, October 29, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Brookside Funeral Home with the burial to follow at Brookside Memorial Park.
