Jean was born in Eldorado, Illinois, on the 10th of January 1927, to Dr. Lee J. Pearce and Irma Johnson Pearce.
An enthusiastic conversationalist and storyteller, she loved talking about politics and entertaining in her home. Elegant and caring, she loved getting to know people, taking a personal interest in everyone she met. She was happiest spending time with her grandchildren. Jean was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Jean is survived by her son, William Lee Cheek and his wife, Lori Ann Cheek; daughter, Laura Cheek Cutter and her husband, Scott William Cutter; grandchildren, Alison Lee Cheek, William Harrison Cheek and Scott Patrick Cutter; daughter-in-law, Christine Dunn Cheek; other family and friends.
The family is extremely grateful to Felipa Uribe, who was her caregiver, friend, and constant companion for many years.
A memorial service and celebration of life is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 31st of July, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent pavilion.
In lieu of customary remembrances, donations may be directed to Jean’s favorite charities: The American Heart Association, Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
