Helen Jacobs

Helen Sophie Jacobs, 91, passed away peacefully on February 27th in Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her sister Mary Ann Knights, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Thomas and Virginia Jacobs. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Sisco and husband Steve of Houston, Texas; nieces, Susan Williams and husband Van of Marion, Texas and Leigh Jacobs King and husband Greg of Abilene, Texas; nephew Doug Jacobs and wife Cindy of Sacramento, California; and cousin, Dena Rittimann of Marion, Texas. Helen was born on June 30, 1926 in Seguin, Texas to Edwin and Thelka Feigerle. As a child, she enjoyed spending time at her grandparents’ farm between Seguin and San Antonio. She became a skilled violinist as an adolescent and teenager. After graduating from Seguin High School, Helen went to work at Randolph AFB in San Antonio where she met Mr. Otto Nachlas who later hired her as a secretary at Ben Cash & Company in Houston. Helen moved to Houston in April of 1947 where she lived in West University Place and worked in the M&M Building downtown. This is where she met the love of her life, Paul Jacobs who worked for the Austin Company also in the M&M Building. The two were married on November 18, 1949. Helen and Paul resided in Bellaire and enjoyed many weekends hunting and fishing with their best friends E. W. and Gail Skinner before the birth of their only child, Gail. Helen was an exceptionally devoted wife and mother who truly loved taking care of her family. She and Paul were married for 63 years until his death in 2012 and were active members of St. Paul Presbyterian Church since the late 1950’s. She also cherished her work and retired from Kerry Myers and Associates (formerly Otto Nachlas and Associates) in 2001 after 54 years of service.

A visitation will be held Monday, March 5, 2018 at Forest Park Westheimer at 10:00 am. A chapel service will begin at 11:00 am on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Forest Park Westheimer with Rev. Dr. Kevin Boyd officiating followed by a reception and graveside service for those who wish to attend.
