Herman Eckford Sr.

He was born on May 28, 1940 to Rev. Willie J. Eckford and Annie Harden Eckford. His family moved from the country area to the city.

Herman pursued a career as a truck driver with Lee Way Freight Company, Inc and others until he retired. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 988.

Herman Eckford Sr. is survived by his spouse of 62 years in marriage, Margie Nell Eckford.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory four adult children Herman Eckford,Jr., Cynthia Eckford King, Adrian Eckford (Madeline), Sonja Eckford, and a host of grandchildren & great grandchildren.

He leaves three sisters Liza Tippet, Ella Ross, Mary Martin and brother John Eckford; sister in-law Wilma Faye (Savania Perry), as well as a hosts of nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors and friends.

A visitation for Herman will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will follow and began promptly at 11:00 AM in Grand Chapel at Brookside, followed by a burial at Brookside Memorial Park.
