

Imelda Viola Schwery Laube, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother went to heaven on
October 20, 2022. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John Laube, her son John Laube,
Jr. and his wife Karen (Heeley) Laube, daughter Kristin (Laube) Manning and her husband Carl
Manning and their children, Olivia Manning and Maxwell Manning. She is also survived by her
siblings Melania Peterson, Connie Becker and Mel Schwery. She is preceded in death by her
parents Alfred and Romana (Goeser) Schwery, and siblings Coletta Schwery Blum and Al Schwery.
Imelda was born in Panama, Iowa on September 12, 1938, to Alfred and Romana (Goeser)
Schwery. She grew up on a farm in Defiance, Iowa with her 5 siblings. She met John Laube in
Harlan, Iowa and married in Manilla, Iowa on June 17, 1961. Shortly thereafter, Imelda and her
husband John moved to California and started a family. Imelda resided in the Houston, Texas
area since 1983 until her passing from congestive heart failure.
Imelda touched many lives in her ministries of Marriage Encounter, singing in the choir, lectoring in church and being a diligent prayer intercessor. Fueled by her faithfulness, loving-kindness,
and joyfulness, she built relationships in which she was greatly valued. Imelda dedicated her life to family, friends, and faith, resulting in a wonderful group of friends and a distinguished legacy in her children, grandchildren and others whose lives she touched.
Imelda loved to travel, especially with family and friends where she enjoyed many adventures, created lasting memories, and expanded her legacy. She enjoyed reading about near-death Heaven
experiences. She was passionate in her faith and relationship with Jesus, and she paved her way to
spending eternity in Heaven.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday November 12, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. located at The Prince of Peace Catholic Church(St. Mary's Chapel). Reception to follow. The address is 19222 TX-249, Houston, TX 77070.
Services will also be held Saturday November 19, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 269 6th St. Manilla, IA 51454 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
