Irene "Mitzie" Norman

1926 – 2018

Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother , passed away peacefully on January 19, 2018. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on April 27, 1926. She graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1943. She attended Lilly Jolly School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse for Dr. Hiram Arnold and Dr. Bill Knight for most of her career. In 1945, she married Don Wilson, with whom she had her beloved son, Trey Wilson. In 1958, Mitzie and Chuck Norman were married and shared 41 years together. They had one daughter, Debbie, who loved them very much. They enjoyed being active in the Shrine and traveling. Their love endured the good times with the bad, including the devastating loss of their beloved son Trey in 1989 and finally, Chuck’s passing in 1999. Mitzie adored her grandsons, Eric and Mark, as well as her great grandchildren. She loved to see their pictures and hear all the stories about their antics. She suffered from dementia in her final years and no longer knew those who loved her most. We know she is dancing with Chuck and hugging her Trey! She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter, Debbie Deska (Kevin), daughter-in-law, Judy Blye-Wilson, grandsons Eric Meadows (Kathryn Grace), and Mark Deska (Emily), great-grandchildren Morgan, Caroline, Jackson, Isabel, and Lily Meadows, and Trey Deska, sister, Pat Verner, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mitzie was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck Norman, her son Trey Wilson, father Pete Hughes, mother Vivian Hughes, and sisters Helen and Francis. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 6pm to 8 pm at Forest Part Westheimer Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on January 24, 2018 at 2 pm at Forest Park Westheimer Chapel.
