Irma was a single mother, she raised her daughters in El Salvador, during the peak of the country’s civil war. She cared deeply for her family and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She was always the first to offer help. She will always smile in the face of hardship. Irma was an elementary teacher for 30 years, she taught mainly 2nd and 3rd grade, at a night school, for children who worked during the day, she found this job fulfilling, being able to help those kids that needed an education and came from poor families, she found grace and comfort in knowing that these kids were bettering their future, and those students that knew her, always kept in touch throughout the years. And she always ensured that every child who crossed her classroom threshold was safe, healthy, and happy.
Irma is survived by her daughters Claudia Mangandi, Irma Aragon and Lily Nygren, and eight grandchildren.
