James (better known to his friends as Jim) was born on October 12, 1942, in Harlingen, TX to Dempsey Coleman and Carol Fraley Coleman.
He graduated from Schertz Cibolo High School in 1962. Shortly afterward he joined the US Air Force where he served his country with pride for four years as an airplane mechanic, earning the rank of Sergeant.
He attended North Texas State University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. He married Judith Wilkin on July 24, 1976 and together they adopted two children, Ronnie and Ivonne. Jim loved fishing and riding in his boat. He was a fantastic cook and everyone looked forward to Thanksgiving at his house. He was always giving food away to neighbors and friends. Jim devoted his time to various causes, including volunteering for the Awanas program at his church, supported his missionary friends, and was a Gideon for many years. He worked as a programmer analyst for the City of Houston until he retired at the age of 71. He touched many lives with his kindness and generosity.
Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy Coleman, and their two children: Ronald Preston Coleman and his daughter, Ivonne Mouser and her husband, Ron, and his grandchildren, Caleb, Josiah, Judah, Jonathan, and Victoria.
Jim is also remembered fondly by his brother, Jack Coleman and his sister, Nancy Knight.
Our memories of him will forever live in our hearts. We grieve with hope, knowing that we will see him again.
