

Jim is survived by Marilyn, his wife of 65 years, daughter Karen Carter of Katy, son Scott and wife Pam of Boston, brother Robert and wife Patty, sister Joyce and husband Herb Nichols, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends in the area.
He is preceded in death by his brother Fred and wife Shirley.
Born in Akron, Ohio on November 14, 1927 to James and Norah (Kessner) Harvey, Jim enlisted in the Navy before graduating high school. After the Navy, he finished high school and went to college at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio. He and Marilyn Leslie were married on August 3, 1953 in Ada. He became a pharmacist, which brought him to Houston in 1966, where he worked through retirement with Walgreens and resided until his death.
Aside from his work and family, JIm’s passion was deep sea fishing. While he loved all forms of fishing, he would always say he was most at peace when on the open sea. He was celebrated for his 60 year participation in the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio. He was an avid reader and in his first year of his retirement he read well over 100 books. His favorite author was James Patterson. He also enjoyed painting and enrolled in several painting classes after retirement.
A service will be held on Sunday, October 15th at 12:30 pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. A private burial at Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be at a later date.
