Jim was born on October 31,1940 to Odie and Alfruy May Howard of Coushatta, Louisiana.
In October of 1963, Jim was working at Shepard AFB and he met Glenda Lee McQueen and they married in December of that year. As Jim liked to say eighty days later. Jim told Glenda if she married him, he would take her around the world. And he did. They had one daughter, Robin. Together they lived in Germany and Spain. They traveled throughout and camped all over Europe. Moving back to Ft Rucker Alabama, then Ft Polk, Louisiana, where he retired from a 20+ year career with the Army Air Force Exchange Service.
They eventually moved to Houston, Texas and retired to Katy, Texas. The travel bug was not settled yet! They loved to RV and visited all 48 states. They made friends all over the world and the US.
Jim tried to be a big bad wolf, tough on the outside, but on the inside he was a tender, loving, kind, supportive, and giving husband, father, grandfather, poppy and friend. If you needed something he was always there to help.
Jim was a member of St Paul's Episcopal church and was very active until the death of his beloved Glenda in 2021. His faith in God was strong.
Jim was predeceased in death by his loving wife Glenda, his parents Odie and Alfruy Howard, and his younger brother Raymond. He is survived by his daughter Robin Arrambide and son-in-law O’Keefe Arrambide, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two younger sisters. They will miss him greatly and continue to love him deeply until they are with him once again.
