James Craig LaBrie, Jr. was born on October 29, 1973 in Houston, Texas. He was raised in Northeast Houston in the Aldine community. James attended MacArthur High School and was a member of the Class of 1991. Following high school, James worked in a variety of different jobs, but one of his most favorite roles was as personal security for local Houston rapper Tony Moñtana.
James was fondly known by his family and friends for his sense of humor and “class-clown” personality. He developed close friendships with only a few select people, and those who were lucky to have this friendship with James knew they had a friend for life.
James met the love of his life, Dana, in 2014 and they were married on January 12, 2018.
James departed his earthly life on April 23, 2021 after a hard-fought battle for his health. He joins his parents, James C. LaBrie, Sr. and Marie Onelia LaBrie in Heaven. He leaves behind his loving wife and stepson, Dana Heiman LaBrie and Arlington Blount, Jr., and his sister, Monica LaBrie, as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
