He earned a degree in architecture from the University of Houston, and practiced as an architect for his entire professional life. He was well traveled, having grown up in places like Hong Kong and Taiwan. His job also brought him to Paris, France. A talented artist, his home became a mini museum to his work. He was also an avid reader, having a library of books in all of his homes.
He was a widower twice, first to Jennifer (2013), then to Lesley (2022). He is survived by his sister Nancy, and three children Katherine (27), Margaret (25), and James (23) and his granddaughter Abigail (7).
