He was raised in Houston and graduated from Sam Houston High School.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Monica Mae Schulte Wolk and Andrew Nicholas Wolk; brother, Michael Anthony Wolk, sister, Pauline Elizabeth Wolk and brother-in-law, Richard Dodd.
James met the girl of his dreams, Sandra “Sandy” Lee Cates in 1961. After ten years of courtship, they married in 1971. He spent the rest of his life loving and cherishing her.
James is also survived by brother, Al Wolk, Sr., and wife Sylvia, sister, Jo Dodd, nephews, Eugene Wolk, Greg Wolk, Jeff Wolk, Scott Wolk, special friend Denise Haigh and many extended family members.
James and his brother “Big Al Wolk” founded Big Tex Delivery Service Inc., in 1970 and operated it for 42 years. Al & James retired and sold the business to friend and General Manager, Joseph Mitchell in October of 2012.
James looked forward to spending eternity with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a longtime member of Christ Church Methodist in The Woodlands, TX.
A visitation for James will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A celebration of life service will occur Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A committal service will occur Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
Serving as pallbearers are Eugene Wolk, Greg Wolk, Jeff Wolk, Scott Wolk, Andrew Haigh and Steven Travis.
