

Janet was born on September 30th, 1939 to Arthur Brown and Helen Gilbert Brown in Sugar Land Texas. Her father Arthur Brown was known as “Top Brown” and her mother Helen was known as “Big Six”. Janet received the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age.
Janet was the Drum Majorette of the Sugarland M.R. Woods high school band. Upon graduating from high school, she married the love of her life, the band director, Mr. Harlan D. Moore who was also a history teacher at M.R. Woods High School. Harlan and Janet moved to Houston to the subdivision of Garden City Park in the Acres Homes community. To their union one son was born whom they named Lloyd Edwin.
Janet joined Ebenezer United Methodist Church where Rev. Dwayne Thompson is the pastor. Janet has been a member of Ebenezer for over 30 years where she served as president of the senior choir, and as a member of the finance committee and the new membership committee. Janet has worked diligently in her church and in her subdivision of Garden City Park as well as in the community of Acres Homes.
Janet was employed at Paradise Funeral Home for over 40 years as the receptionist. Many fondly referred to her as “Ms. Paradise” because she was always so kind and helpful. She always greeted everyone with a smile and she would ask, “How can I help you”?
Harlan and Janet were members of the Pioneers Motor Home Club where Harlan served as president for many years and Janet served as the Public Relations Representative. They traveled to many U.S. cities and states. Harlan passed away in 1993.
Janet was a very friendly, cheerful, loving, and a compassionate and a very kind woman. Her motto was: “Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready.”
She is preceded in death by; her mother and father, her husband Harlan, her grandson Torrance “Toy” and her granddaughter Tiffany.
She leaves to cherish her memories; her son Lloyd (Gayle Green), her grandson Toby D. Brooks (wife Mona Brooks), one other grandson; Joshua and her great grandchildren; Tory, Tyree, Tyler, Justin, Braylon and Taylor. Her legacy of faith, love, and compassion lives on in the hearts of those she loved and cherished.
