Jason was a really great little boy.  I remember the first time his dad brought  him out to Dry Creek airport to look at airplanes.  He very enthusiastically started helping on a restoration we were doing.  I think he was bitten by the flying bug on that  day.  He loved to fly.  He was a great kid that became a great man and he is loved and missed.

So grateful to have known Jason. His loving kindness and dedication to his community made the world a better place.  Our family was made richer by his presence. He lived with passion humor and  great integrity. He was such a loving husband and father, a truly admirable man.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Jason Knox's death.  I am so sorry. I send my condolences to the Knox family.

Jason was very kind to me when he helped me realize my life long dream of owning an H1 Hummer. I bought Jason's black Hummer in 2012. When I first called him about the truck he went out and took extra photos and even video so I could see and hear it run. We then did the "can I trust this guy" dance on the phone as we worked out a deal. I was immediately put at ease. With out actually seeing the truck, and based solely on his description, I sent him a cheque. He was straight up and totally trust worthy.  When I flew to Houston he picked me up at the airport in an old police car he was working on. The Hummer was parked at the Houston Police airfield nearby.  Once we went over the truck Jason invited me for lunch but I had 60 hours of driving ahead of me so I declined. I wish I had said yes. years later Jason told me he always wanted to see what the truck could do in the snow. I told him if I we ever got slammed with a Canadian blizzard I would send video... I never did. Another regret. 

Although the time I spent with Jason was not great the impact he has had on my life is significant. He sold me a great truck that I will own until the end of my days. I still have the Houston Police Association sticker on the back which will now remain there forever in his honour. Rest in Peace Jason. 

Im with a police department in Louisiana and I went to Houston almost a year ago for some training. This is when I met Jason, he was so happy to meet other officers from out of state. He showed me the HPD memorial, there he gave me HPD patches and air support coins. We stayed in touch and talked frequently. It was mostly him trying to recruit me to HPD lol. He was always an ear I could run to when I had a bad day.  In the short time I knew him we had many laughs, he even helped me with one of our cases that HPD was involved in. He loved his job, his community and his family. He was always so honored to stand guard at the memorial and do what he could for our fallen. Just a few hours before his crash we got to talk, I told him about our recent officer involved shooting and other tough issues I had during the week. I want to keep reaching out to him but hes not here. He has earned his wings and I know hes watching over all of us. 

I was blessed to have worked with Jason in Public Affairs. He was always helpful and kind in everything he did.  I will never forget him.

I will pray for him and his family, especially his wife and beautiful children. May the Lord bless and comfort you during this time of grief. You will be in my heart and mind, always.


I met Jason at a community service event with Councilmember Stardig.  Jason was there displaying his restored HPD Patrol car.  I so was very impressed with Jason and his passion for restoring the patrol car and the plans he was making to do more restorations.  
As we spoke about our jobs as Police Officers, I knew that he was very passionate about his job, his family, and the community we serve.  I was saddened when I heard about his untimely passing.  We will miss this great officer who was making such a difference in this world today.

although I did not have the pleasure of knowing officer knox,my heart breaks for his family and his friends..the sudden loss of a loved one is a shock to anyone,but the love and the memories of shared times will always be there..may his family and friends take comfort in knowing he was doing his job as a Houston police officer and serving the entire community,and that others care..god bless you...

I had the honor of meeting Jason while he did a rotation at Major Offenders.  I immediately was impressed by his commitment and compassion he demonstrated with not only his colleagues but most importantly the public we serve.  Jason and I responded to a call out of a police impersonation sexual assault investigation that subsequently resulted  in the identification and arrest of a suspect.  Jason was very instrumental in this investigation that we kept in contact long after this case with follow trial prep.   Jason was smart, quick witted and so very proud of not only his profession but his family.  I will miss you my brother and I thank God I had the honor of meeting you on this earth.  Until we meet again.  I pray that God embraces your wife and children with His mercy.  

I'll always cherish you coming to the church with the kids. Sitting down and just shooting the breeze with the "EJ Gang" about what happened during the week. I will never forget you and I thank God that he put you in my life for a brief moment.

Jason, I first met you at the police memorial when I stopped to look at your Shamo that you just finished.   I was on duty and you ask if I wanted to take a photo with the car.  You took my picture and gave me the run down  on your passion.  

 You gave me the bug and coached me when buying my first restoration project.  This car is  now complete and it could not have been done without your help.  Many late night text regarding color, strip or decal, and the big one the Lightbar.  I remember you putting an "APB" out for the Yankee Lightbar on several web pages and with in a week,  we had the lightbar.  

I will miss you my brother in blue.  I promise to keep your passion of restoring HPD past and maybe even one day,  we can have a museum like LAPD.  

This car is for you.

     Jason was a special person.  Kind at heart, caring of others,  and, a policeman's cop.   Always wearing a smile , he brightened up a day by just walking into a room . Jason worked with me on a rotation for a couple of weeks  at HPD Major Offenders and I felt I knew him my whole life.  He was willing to learn the job and eager to help.  
     He introduced me to his father while dad was at the polling places and  I saw the pride he had in his father.   We spoke of his family and I could see the love for them.  
     I'm sorry for the  loss of Jason and I pray for peace and comfort for his family.  I will miss him and I pray that God  blesses him and guides him to eternal happiness.  

Jason Knox is one of the finest young men I have ever known.  It was my pleasure to see the son of my partner Mike grow into the man he is.  My family and I are grieved at his loss.  

The blessings he brought to our family are without number.

     We spent many hours at my kitchen table teaching him ground school lessons.  He matured into a young man with a servant's heart and pursued Law Enforcement and flying.

It was my great honor to speak at his graduation ceremony from his first academy class.  Later I was privileged to mentor him and to attend his HPD graduation.  

Jason:  you enriched our lives in ways you could never know.  I will carry you in my heart to the end of my days.

He brought one of his restored police vehicles to the Houston Police Retired Officers Association meeting one day. Us old timers were impressed with the work he had done. We were also impressed with his demeanor and personality. He was one of the good guys and may he rest in peace.
 

As a retired HPD Sergeant, 1976-2004, and a former co worker of Mike, I have lost many blue brothers and sisters. Each time my heart breaks for the family and the department involved.  My sincere condolences to Mike and the rest of the family. RIP Jason, you did your job on earth very well. 

As a retired HPD Sergeant, Homicide Division 1975-2002, my heart and condolences to Mike’s family. Over these 35 to 40 years my heart and prayers have gone out to many Blue Families and it always takes another little piece of me with it. May God bless and comfort ya’ll through all these d@ys ahead.

I got to meet Jason and find out his passion for Police work and Law enforcement History. Managing the HPD Radio Shop he came to me and my techs in searching for the correct Technology to put into the older HPD Police Vehicles he restored.  He always wanted it to be authentic and we were blessed to work with him to even help get some of the technology working to a point in the restorations. 

Just talking with him, it was easy to see he was a Passionate Father and a husband and definitely a Godly Man. His passion for Law enforcement rubbed off on all who met him and we wanted to help him succeed in his restorations as well. 

I was missing one computer which HPD used in the 1980’s when I joined the department. I was trying to find Museum quality Mobile Computers used throughout the years at HPD. 

Jason, through his countless and deep contacts in the LEO restorations area found me the elusive Motorola computer I needed to complete the Mobile computer display we are completing at HPD. 

Jason was one of those people you just wanted to be around. He will be greatly missed personally and professionally. 

We both worked at Spring Valley PD and became good friends. I remember going to his house and his wife Keira making us sandwiches for lunch. After a couple of years at SVPD, Jason left to HPD. He convinced me to join the best department in the country. After several years, we finally found what we wanted to do in our careers. We went different paths but we kept in contact. After Jason got his wings, he called me to tell me that he was above my house taking pictures of my house. It’s hard to write about these memories without chocking up. Theres many more memories to write about, but I need to keep some for myself. I love you Jason and keep flying like the angel you are.

By the way I miss riding passenger in your H1 Hummer.

Jason would volunteer to park his cruiser at my house when I was away on vacation. He was that thoughtful as a friend and neighbor. It is an absolute shock and travesty to lose someone of his character and integrity.
