

He was drafted into the U. S. Army for World War II. His military career ended as Staff Sergeant-Medical Department, Morro Bay, CA.
He married the love of his life, Anexial on August 17, 1942 in San Luis Obispo, CA. He had a fruitful career with HISD as a Plant Operator/Maintenance Supervisor for 29 years. He attended A/C and Heating School-Houston, and Mortuary Training-Kilgore. He was a member of the Debate Team-Kilgore, Black Veterans School-Kilgore, Adelphi Class and Lead Greeter-First Methodist-Houston. He was an Honored Elder of the state recognized Mount Tabor Indian Community (East Texas). Jasper faithfully attended and supported First Methodist Church. He once said his secret to his longevity was his faith in God, the love and support of his wife, Anexial, and his reason and purpose for providing for his family. He believed in helping others by doing good deeds, particularly toward children extended his purpose and therefore his longevity. Jasper never met a stranger. He always had a positive outlook toward life, no matter the circumstances. “And a good cup of coffee throughout the day”!
The Christmas holiday was his favorite time of the year; shopping for everyone and loving the smiling faces of his family.
He had a special gift of celebrating Anexial, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, friends, and relatives. He liked reading, storytelling, politics, college football, debating, and WWII Medical Department experiences.
A visitation for Jack will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, 1320 Main Street, Houston, TX 77002. A funeral service will occur Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:15 PM, 1320 Main Street, Houston, Texas 77002. A committal service will occur Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:10 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
