Jeffrey Lee Woodson’s life will be celebrated on May 9, 2026, at St. George's Episcopal Church in Bossier City. The service will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a reception in the Parish Hall where family and friends will gather to share memories of a life deeply loved.
Jeff was born on December 9, 1958, in Abilene, Texas, to Jack and June Woodson. He passed away on April 3, 2026, in Houston.
As the son of an Air Force pilot, Jeff spent his childhood moving across California, Maine, Louisiana, and Florida. Those early years shaped his adventurous spirit and easy way of connecting with people everywhere he went. In Maine, family often told the story of his legendary appetite. While his sisters ate hot dogs or grilled cheese sandwiches, people would stop to watch seven-year-old Jeff happily finish an entire lobster followed by blueberry pie. That same love of food followed him throughout his life, and years later, everyone knew Jeff was coming home when lasagna was in the oven and no chocolate was anywhere in sight. Jeff’s pockets were always filled with small treasures including baseball cards, smooth rocks, and bits of candy; reminders of a man who never lost his sense of wonder. He loved baseball and played Little League in Florida on a team coached by his father that went all the way to the Little League World Series.
When the family later settled in Haughton, Jeff built lifelong friendships and filled those years with stories that are still told today. He loved the outdoors and especially the water, spending countless hours on Lake Bistineau skiing, fishing, and laughing his way through adventures that often turned into chaos. Trouble seemed to follow him, from snakes in the boat to mysteriously dead boat batteries, but he always met these with humor and a grin. He also loved duck and deer hunting in the quiet woods of Bossier Parish long before many of those places became neighborhoods.
Music was another constant in Jeff’s life. He played guitar, loved learning new songs, and found joy in his Gibson guitar, which he played for years with pride.
More than anything, Jeff’s greatest love was his family. The brightest lights of his life were his daughter, Elizabeth, and his granddaughter, Amelia. Jeff was selfless, an incredible listener, someone who loved to laugh, and a truly loyal friend to everyone lucky enough to know him. One of Elizabeth’s favorite memories is the first time her dad took her to the casino; a trip filled with Mexican food, laughter, and long conversations about life. It was also the day she learned about what he jokingly called “Woodson luck,” as she left with more money than he did. He also taught her how to cook his favorites - lasagna, spaghetti, and the best boxed Kraft mac and cheese - meals that now carry his memory in every bite. Some of her treasured memories are long road trips to Haughton with her dad, listening to Jimmy Buffett and Bruce Springsteen,
weekends on the water in Galveston tubing and boating, and laughing through everyday moments that became unforgettable simply because they were together.
The last time Elizabeth saw her dad was at her biggest dance performance to date. His pride in her was unmistakable and something she could feel without him even saying a word. That pride, and the quiet way he showed his love, is something she will carry forever.
Jeff was a lover of life, animals, laughter, and fun. He made ordinary moments feel special and had a way of making people feel heard, valued, and loved.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and June Woodson; his sister, Patty Woodson; and his grandparents, Rob and Pat Woodson. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Aguilera and her husband Joel; his granddaughter Amelia, his sister Kathy O’Neal and her husband Kevin, his uncle Mike Woodson and Aunt Mary Voss, and many cousins and extended family members in Texas who will miss him deeply.
Jeff’s legacy is one of kindness, humor, and presence — a reminder that the best parts of life are not the big moments, but the shared meals, long talks, laughter on the water, and the people we love the most.
Donations in Jeff’s memory may be made to St. George’s food pantry or the donor of your choice.
