

Jimmie Billy Gates passed away peacefully on September 28th, 2018 at the age of 84 in his hometown of Houston Texas. He went quietly to heaven on his last of life while dreaming of seeing the sun set just like all the old western movies that he enjoyed.
Jimmie was an honorable, hard-working, and humorous man who instilled the values of hard work, responsibility, and good laughs into any person that crossed his path. His sense of humor was impeccable, and he could make anyone laugh, no matter how tough their day was going. His love of western movies was nearly unbeatable as no one was a bigger fan of John Wanye movies than he. He worked hard to provide a life for his children that he wished he had growing up and through his efforts got to see his children and grandchildren become more successful than he could have hoped for. Jim’s legacy of hard work and humor continues to live on his family and he passes away knowing the heritage he created will continue to grow into the future for the next generation.
Jimmie Gates is now joined with his loving wife, Dorothy Gates, and parents Johnnie and Leon Gates. He is lovingly remembered by his children Kathleen Gates Driskell and husband Joseph, Jerry Gates and wife Linda, James Gates and wife Deborah Gates. Cherished by his grandchildren Christopher Driskell spouse Delanie, Jason Driskell spouse Fred Walters, Valerie Driskell Therrien spouse Mark, Ryan Gates, Raine Kennedy spouse Max, Jasper Gates, and Jennie Kent spouse Austin. And honored by his great-grandchildren Caleb and Colby Driskell, Nathaniel and Nicholas Therrien, and Liam and Carter Kennedy.
