Mr. Duncan was a singer, songwriter, composer and arranger. He was a member of BMI (Broadcast Music Industry) and, ASCAP (American Society of Composer’s Arrangers and Producers).
Two of his most famous songs were “I asked The Lord” which is in all of the Hymnals and, “My Special Angel.” My Special Angel is the second most played song in the world. The other is “Yesterday” by Paul McCartney.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Duncan III. Mr. Duncan is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lillian Duncan; two children, Susan Tapia and Sherry Hammon; four grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Mr. Duncan died before Sherry and her Fiance’, Stacey Holley could be married.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2011 at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Creek, 9149 Highway 6 North in Houston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Addicks United Methodist Church, 1212 Highway 6, Houston, Tx 77084 with Rev. Eddie Hilliard officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Avenue in Houston.
