

Born in Dallas, Texas on September 20, 1942 to parents Robert and Theresa Helen Vassel, they preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her husband Marlin Dual Daniels, siblings: Herman Ashford Ford and Corporal/USMC Robert James Vassel. Joan is also preceded in death by her daughter Margeaux Daniels and granddaughter Ashley Vassel-Stephens.
Joan later made Houston her home, where she built a life filled with love, ambition, and unwavering dedication to her family and career.
Joan worked as an FDA Investigator until her well-earned retirement. Though she was proud of her work, she always dreamed of one day opening her own business, a vision that fueled her creativity and passion throughout her life.
She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children, Shirye' Daniels-Byrd and Marlin Daniels Jr., son-in-law Keith Dicks, daughter-in-law Carra Daniels, daughter-in-law Gabrielle Vassel, daughter-in-law Nina Roberson, as well as her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Blake Daniels, Marc-Anthony Vassel-Stephens, Francois Vassel-Byrd, Jordan Vassel-Byrd, Chloe Vassel-Byrd, Jean-Pierre Vassel-Byrd, Reiley and Rodney Roberson-Byrd, Shella Roberson-Byrd,Roshella Roberson Vassel-Byrd, Kohan Wester, great great grandson Kohan Wester and sister Patricia Daisy Kemp.
A funeral service to honor Joan’s life will be held on February 13, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Vianney Church in Houston.
Her kindness, wisdom, and loving spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
