HOUSTON, Texas- Joe David Whitmore, 75, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born, January 8, 1940 in Odessa, Texas. He was raised in Odessa, and he graduated from Odessa High School in the Class of 1958. He was a star defensive end, for the Odessa High Broncos. If you asked his family and friends, Joe was known as a “Jack of all Trades”. His work as an industrial welder, earned him the nickname, “Ironman.” In 1960, Joe married the love of his life, Cecelia Ann Caruthers, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death are his parents; Edward Oliver and Maggie Lu Whitmore, his son; Joe David Whitmore, Jr., brother and sister; Edy Whitmore and Fran Duggan. Surviving to cherish his memories are his daughter, Lisa Ann Whitmore, and sister, Candace McDougall, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Joe’s life and honor his memories, Saturday, November 7, 2015, 10 AM, at First Baptist Church Fresno, 4501 FM 521, Fresno, Texas 77545. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made directly to the Baylor ADMDC, or the American Cancer Society.
