John was a graduate of Central High School in Oklahoma City, and went on to receive a Bachelor's degree from Oklahoma City University. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army where he served as a military policeman. He married the love of his life Jo Anna Gee on August 30, 1955.
John worked in sales for Addressograph Multigraph and later owned the Alief Feed Store, but in his free time loved to relax with his daily crossword puzzle. In the past, he had volunteered as a committee chairman for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which enabled him to work closely with his children and their livestock projects.
John is survived by his cherished wife of 63 years, Jo Anna Gee Brown; children Wade and Wes Brown; grandchildren Ryan, Alexus, and Savannah. He was preceded in passing by his parents Bernard B. Brown and Eula Brown, daughter Melanie Brown, and sister Mary Suzanne Grossman.
A visitation will be held in his honor on Monday, August 19, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. inside the Chapel of American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038. Following the gathering, John will be escorted to the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038, where he will be laid to rest with honors.
