Dick was the name I knew him by in Ohio in the '60's.  He was an incredible drummer.  I played with him in a band called The Counterpoints at the Deck in Kent and The Draught House in Portage Lakes.  He started with us right out of high school and was a seasoned pro in a matter of weeks.  When we played at the Draught House there would be five or six other drummers there every night to listen to him.  The was the example they all sought to be.  He was very fast, acurate and creative.  His solos were a wonder to behold.  The best drummer I ever played with.  But thing I remember most is his sense of humor and character.  We were always laughing, and socializing playing cards, water skiing, bowling and just plain having fun.  They were some of the best days of my life.  Sadly, I went into the Army and could never find him again when I got out.  I know now he was in Texas and I'm sure he had the same effect on family and friends there.  Ironicly, I lived in Houston for two years and he was probably right around the corner.  Goodbye old friend and we'll meet around the corner on the other side..........Gary Parker (Akron, Ohio)

Met Dick when I was a sophomore at Falls high school. One of THE best drummers I have personally known. Shared some good times at his family home and with various bands. He was a great musical influence

John went by his middle name "Dick" here in Ohio. He was a warm, fun-loving human being and I'm so very sorry to learn of his passing. Dick played drums in a group called The Counterpoints and his drum solos were incredible! He was only 20 years old and could do a one handed drum roll! I've missed him over the years and tried to contact him numerous times but didn't realize he was using his first name. Such a terrible loss and my condolences go out to his family and friends.

Dick was kind,funny,talented...in fact the best drummer I ever worked with and I worked with many. I'm sad to hear of his passing for I had hoped to see him again.
We shared an apartment in 1966 and was ask to leave because we made to much noise. We played the Fifth Quarter in Kent and then the Draught House in Portage lakes. I have only good memories of our time together. He was in our wedding and was a friend to both myself and my wife. God bless his family and we hope to see him on the other side. John has given so many comfort in the their time of need. He will surely be missed by family and friends. I consider the time from when I met John till now as a gift. Great man, wonderful friend. May God bless him and his family.

John was a wonderful angel while here on Earth.  He cared for everyone who came into his life.  No one was a stranger if they needed help.  He was such a giving person.  He was talented and could surprise us with his song, jokes and dance.  We will miss him.  He ran the  good race and is now at peace in the arms of the Good Shepherd.
