

Johnny graduated from Danbury High School. He met Frances Green from Angleton, Texas. They eloped and spent 55 years together happily married until she passed away in 2008. Johnny worked as an electrician for Wohlt Electric Company for over 25 years. He has been a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He had a passion for golf cart riding, fishing, mowing grass and loving his family.
Johnny loved taking his daughters, granddaughters, and great grandkids golf cart riding. Going down the ‘WEE’ was such fun. He also enjoyed mowing on his riding lawn mower. He mowed his yard and neighbor’s yards. His family and friends were very important to him, and his love was big enough for them all.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Frances Ann Freeland; second wife of over 10 years, Patty Duckett Freeland; parents, Tunis B. Freeland and Myrtle Freeland; sisters, Dorothy Kuchar, Margaret Penry, and Myrtle Mae Freeland; brothers, Buddy Freeland and Jimmy Freeland.
He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Crump (husband Mark), and Sandy Jackson (husband Scott); granddaughters, Jennifer Shelton (husband Verstandt), Lori Chappell (husband John), and Sondra Joji (husband Keith); great grandchildren Frank and Joy Chappell, Eleanor, and Wesley Joji.
A visitation for John will be held Friday, March 3, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will occur Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 10:00 AM. A committal service will occur Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Brookside Memorial Park.
