

John "Jay" Havlik, age 87, was born on Sept. 30, 1924, in Moulton, Tx., and passed away on Jan. 8, 2012, in Houston, after a courageous battle with cancer. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1948. He was a WWII veteran. After the war, he spent 38 years with Texaco as a mechanical engineer. John was a proud member of the Polka Lovers Klub of America and the Epiphany Catholic Church. He loved music, dancing, football, and most of all Irene's home cooking. A special thanks to all of the caregivers, Kindred Hospital and staff, Methodist Hospital and staff, and the entire family, for their love and support. John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Maury and Raymond; and grandson Christian. He is survived by his wife, Irene Havlik; daughters, Carolyn and Marilyn; sons, Dan, Dennis, Paul, Johnny, Ed and Robert; grandchildren, Katie, Carl, Michael, Jeffery, Christie, Hope, Brandon, Ashley, and Kelly and great-grandchildren, Jackson and Mason. A visitation will be held on Tues., 1/10 from 6-8 pm with a Rosary at 7pm; and a funeral service will be held at 10am on Wed. 1/11, at Epiphany Catholic Church, Katy, Tx. A reception will immediately follow in the parish hall with a private interment at Forest Park Westheimer. Donations may be received at both services for the Havlik-Varava Historic Family Cemetery, in Wesley, Tx. Information will be available at that time concerning donations to this family cemetery.
