John W. Jemison

John W. Jemison, Jr., 84 of Kingwood Texas was born April 15, 1937, in Pensacola Florida. He passed away peacefully February 2, 2022, surrounded by his family. He is proceeded in death by his parents John W. Jemison, Sr., Mattie Kyle, brother William Jemison and sister Mildred Jemison.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Lynn Hawkins Jemison. Daughter Laurie Bland, her children George Bland wife Jill and their children Andy and Wyatt, and John Bland. Son James Jemison and daughter Kaylynn. Son Henry Jemison and son Matthew and daughter Lyndsey. Leslie Harper, husband Gary and their children Kyle Haggard wife Mikayla, children Alexander and Kennedy Grace, Olivia Haggard, Connor Haggard, Brooke Pace and husband Jeffery, Lauren Yeager and husband Ryan.

John was a member of the USAF, pitched for the St Louis Cardinals minor league, and was later a scout for the Houston Astros. John started Sports Insurance International as an under writer for Lloyds of London, insuring professional athletes and teams which included the Houston Astros and New Orleans Saints. He started one of the first minor emergency clinics in the country in Memphis Tennessee, named M.D. Now. He finished out his career as a policy underwriter for Memorial Hermann Healthcare Systems.

John was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was a kind, generous and Christian man. He leaves us with big shoes to fill.

A funeral service for John will be held Monday, February 14, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. Following the funeral service will be a burial from 12:45 PM to 1:15 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
