He was the son of John Perry Nixon, Jr., and Betty Comfort Nixon. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sarah Pehl Nixon, his sisters: Judith Nixon Carpenter, Janice Nixon Martin and husband Jerry, and Jacquelyn Nixon Hammond and husband Peter.
John attended M.B. Smiley High School, class of 1961, graduated from the University of Houston in 1967, and worked as an accountant for Petrolite Corporation and later Baker Hughes, retiring in 2000, then relocated to Fort Bend County, Richmond, Texas.
John’s life was blessed with four children, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

A funeral service will occur Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX. A committal service will occur Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX. A reception will occur Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX.
