John was born in Beaumont, Texas on September 2, 1930. He was the 5th and last child of Elphage and Mariette Romere. John met his wife, Dixie, in 1955 at a singles weekend and married within six months to start a family as soon as possible. John recently stated that he was most proud to have found and marry a great woman, having raised four children to be fine individuals, who in turn graced the two of them with six wonderful grandchildren.
John was admired and respected by all that had the honor to know him. He was friend to all with a heart as big a Texas. John was the most honorable, generous, kindest man one could hope to encounter. His love was deep for his family and friends. We will all miss him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in John’s name to MD Anderson Cancer Center or charity of your choice.
