

John “Irvin” Tisdale, 88 years, of Houston, Tx, passed away on February 16, 2018. He was born on August 28, 1929 to David and Irene Tisdale in Kirvin, Texas. He was one of five children. He is preceded in death by his brother Douglas and sisters Florence Padgett and Joann Tisdale. He is survived by his sister, Lanelle Mattingly. John entered active service with the United States Army in 1951 and was honorably discharged in December of 1953. In 1957 John married his wife, Bonnie Faye Price, of 51 years, gaining two children, Jimmie and Sue. He is preceded in death by Sue Black.
He worked in bridge construction and later worked for the State of Texas as a bridge construction inspector, where he was certified as a civil engineer. John was always known to be a hard worker, holding part time jobs as a constable for the city of Houston, and a parking attendant for The Astrodome and The Summit. He was proud to say he opened and closed the Astrodome and he retired with the State of Texas in 1992.
John’s favorite pass times were fishing and dominoes. He was known to say “I love playing 42 more than anything, but fishing is right behind.” His best days were when he had family or friends around and they were up for a game of 42!
He is survived by his son, Jimmie Black and wife Lois, his grandchildren Stacy Turlington & Clint, John Black & Melanie, James Black & Heidi, great grandchildren Kade Turlington, Carly Turlington, Korie Turlington, Aiden Black, Robert Ensor & Kaylee, Ashley Langston & Heath, great- great grandchildren Alexis Ensor, Brooks Ensor, and Tanner Langston.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 11am, February 22 at First Baptist Church of Jacinto City, with visitation at 10am. John will be laid to rest at the Brookside Funeral home.
